Warren Harold Tinney, 88 of Valdosta, GA and Covington, PA died Friday, September 10, 2021 after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s. Born in Rochester, NY to Alfhild and Harold Tinney and stepson of Otto Johnson, he grew up on the Blake Road in Morris Run, PA. He grew up working in the coal mines in that area. In 1963, he and his wife Joyce moved to Valdosta, GA as owners and operators of the El Carlo Motel until 1984. He then worked for the Scruggs Asphalt Co. as the sand plant manager until his retirement. Shortly after retirement he lost his Beloved wife Joyce. He continued to live his life by becoming the typical snowbird, traveling between his homes and enjoying the company of his family and friends. He loved to tell stories of his travels and shared many pictures of his adventures. He served in the Army during the Korean War and proudly served at Arlington National Cemetery in the 3rd Infantry Regiment. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian & Dawn Tinney, of Covington, PA; daughter, Lisa Tinney, of Valdosta, GA; four Grandchildren and spouses-Benjamin Tinney of Manila Philippines, Sarah Tinney of Covington, PA, Levi & Alicia Tinney of Igiugig, AK, and Rachel and Carson Ayers of Sayre, PA; one great grandchild, Afanesia Tinney of Igiugig, AK; two Brothers-in-law, Pete Greer of Mansfield, PA and Bill Greer of Blossburg, PA, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous extended family of close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Tinney, in 2004. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 15 with a viewing at 10 am and a life celebration service at 11 am at the Freeberg Funeral Home in Blossburg, PA. Followed by a Graveside service to be held following with Military Honors. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held in Valdosta, GA at Messiah Lutheran Church at a later date to be announced
