Thomas J. Russell, 80, of Liberty, and a guest of Carleton Healthcare and Rehabilitation of Wellsboro, from 2020 until 2022, passed away March 3, 2022 at UPMC Wellsboro.
Tom was born August 30, 1941 in Patterson NJ, one of three children of late Charles and Evelyn Russell.
As a New Jersey resident he worked as a mechanic, he delivered floral arrangements to the local businesses as well as doing odd jobs.
In the 1970’s he moved to Sebring, PA., becoming an employee of Wheeland Lumber of Liberty, where he was employed for 25 years. While living in Sebring he enjoyed the time he spent with “Shep” his German Shepherd. Tom then moved to his home at 66 Brion Road, Liberty. Since “Shep” was in” doggie heaven”, Tom had numerous cats, one cat was special to Tom, “Frisky” had the privilege of living inside.
Tom took pleasure in visiting family and friends, eating at different local restaurants, Chinese being his food of choice, watching TV and he enjoyed all flowers, especially red flowers.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Anne Jager; sister-in-law Rita Russell; niece, Cindy Williams; nephews, Jim Russell, Charles Russell Jr., William Russell, Matthew Russell, Lucas Russell, and several great nieces and nephews. Also, by his good friends and care givers, Carmi and Paul Zeafla.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Russell Sr., and nephew, George Jager.
Family and friends will be received at Freeberg Funeral Home and Cremations, Blossburg, Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 3 p.m. until 4p.m. Funeral Services will follow at 4p.m. with Pastor Bill Baker officiating. Interment will take place in Union Cemetery, Liberty.
