Obituary

Sidney Floyd Brion

Sidney Floyd Brion passed away after a long illness on Dec. 28, 2022 at his home near Buttonwood.  The youngest son of the late Floyd and Sara Bailey Brion, he was born Dec. 18, 1945 on the family farm in Jackson Township.  A 1963 graduate of Liberty Junior-Senior High School, Sid attended Mansfield State College and joined his two brothers, enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1967.  Stationed at F. E. Warren Air Force base, he married Constance (Susie) Brown November 23, 1968.  Upon leaving the service, they remained in her hometown of Cheyenne, Wyoming until returning to the family farm in 1975.

Sid was a serial entrepreneur, establishing Sid’s Steamway Carpet Cleaners in 1975 and a United National Real Estate franchise in 1986.  Often found at flea markets and estate sales, he was an avid buyer, seller and trader of (mainly) antiques and collectibles, building one of the most significant private collections of WPA era posters in the United States.  Sid was a past member of the Black Wolf Rod & Gun Club and attended Steam Valley Bible Church.

In addition to his parents, Sid was predeceased by his brothers William and Tom.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Susie; their sons: Scott (Bibi) and Steve (Gwen) all of Liberty; sisters: Joyce Beaver of Lewisburg, Rita (Jerry) Grimes of New Columbia, Sally (Mike) Maneval of Liberty; grandchildren: Jackson, Ellie, Boyd & Beau; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for the spring.
