Russell Baney

Russell L. Baney, 83, of Liberty, PA, died January 1, 2014 at the Green Home, Wellsboro, where he was a resident since September 2013.

Born May 9, 1930 in Beech Creek, PA., he was the son of the late Chester and Marie Brion Baney.

Russell worked for Fisher Mining Co. until the spring of 2012.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, but most of all, he enjoyed his family and his cat, Boots.

Russ severed in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict; where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Robert F. Snyder American Legion Post # 6755, Liberty, and the Masonic Lodge, Blossburg for all most 50 years.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Jennie Roupp Baney, daughter Virginia A. Baney Beck (Harry) of Muncy, 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Linda Hunsinger, and sister-in-law Helen Baney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Elsie Knarr and a brother Richard Baney.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. from St. Paul United Methodist Church, Nauvoo with Rev. Tom Harmic officiating
