Richard H. Arlidge
May 28, 1929 – September 29, 2024
Richard H. Arlidge, 95, of Arnot, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 29th leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, faith, and a life fully lived.
Born on May 28, 1929, in Rochester to Kenneth C Arlidge and Gertrude Merkel, Richard was known for his adventurous spirit, a man who rarely sat still and always embraced life's twists and turns. His journey took him far and wide, but no matter where his path led, he was never far from his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Watkins. Together, they forged a bond that could not be broken, following each other faithfully through every chapter of their lives. When the time came to settle down, it was Mary’s hometown of Arnot, PA, where they chose to raise their family—a place where their hearts truly found a home.
Richard proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, where his dedication and commitment to duty exemplified the same principles he carried throughout his life. He was a man of principle and conviction, sometimes known for his stubborn streak, but it was this same tenacity that saw him through life’s challenges. His deep Christian faith was a guiding force in his life. For Richard, Sundays were spent at Arnot Presbyterian Church, drawing strength from his community and his unwavering belief in God. His faith not only sustained him but also shaped his devotion to his family and those he loved.
He was preceded in death by Mary, the love of his life, as well as his cherished daughters, Diane Caskey and Sherry Davenport, and his son-in-law, Jay T. Rohler.
Richard’s legacy lives on through his surviving daughter, Lisa Rohler, and his adoring grandchildren: Sarah (Michael) Brown, Ashly (Daniel) Ryan, Westley Rowe, and Christopher Reese. His great-grandchildren, Riki, Anna, Adeline and Declan, will carry his adventurous spirit forward.
Visitation and services will be held at Freeberg Funeral Home in Blossburg, PA on Tuesday, October 8th from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Chris Osterbrock officiating.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Richard’s remarkable life.
Though his journey here has ended, Richard’s love for his family, his faith, and the memories he created will remain an enduring part of those who knew and loved him.
