Martha A. Bastian

Martha A. Bastian,89, of Blossburg passed away Friday, August 27, 2021, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Blossburg.

Martha was born December 6, 1931 in Covington, one of thirteen children of Jacob and Frances Fredrick Bogaczyk.

Martha was the widow of Glenn P. Bastian Sr.

She was a member of Holy Child Parish.

Martha was a respected and loved teacher of the Southern Tioga School District for 28 years, she also held the position of school board director of the Southern Tioga School District for 9 years.

She brought her love of outdoor education to her students through thirty plus years of Outdoor Education Week for fifth grade students held at the Copp Hollow Homestead (The Bogaczyk Farm).

Martha was a member of Kappa Delta PI, an honor society in Education.

Her greatest source of pride was her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her children; Scott (Deborah) Bastian, Mansfield and Dr. Barbara (William) Kelly, Blossburg, her daughter-in-law Cindy Bastian, Mansfield, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Preceding Martha in death were her parents, husband Glenn P. Bastian Sr., son Glenn “Skip” Bastian Jr. and all her siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Bryan Wright and interment at Oakwood Cemetery will be privately held for Martha’s family.
