Margaret Esther (Heyler) Raker, 93, of Liberty, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Broad Acres, Wellsboro.
Born September 19, 1923, in Nauvoo, she was the daughter of Elmer F. and Alta (Young) Heyler.
Margaret graduated from Liberty High School and devoted her life to her family and worked alongside her husband on their farm in Sebring. When farm life permitted, Margaret enjoyed quilting, reading, playing Scrabble with a willing adversary, and completing crossword puzzles and search-a-words. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren for her delicious Chex mix, her homemade root beer, the gifts she wrapped in the funny pages, and her willingness to always find time to read aloud a good story.
Margaret was a member of the Liberty Lutheran Church, Sebring Grange, and played the organ at the Sebring Zion Lutheran Church until its closure.
Surviving are children, Dennis (Linda) Raker of Hawthorne, CA, Joan (Gary ) Blackwell of Liberty; Sue Ellen (Gerald) Krupa of State College; daughter-in-law, Marsha Raker of Roaring Branch; brothers Frederick (JoAnn) Heyler of Nauvoo, and Edward (Dorna) Heyler, Westfield; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Matthew Raker; Amy Raker, Cody, Dillon, Jack, and Savannah; Barry (Leah) Raker, Evelyn and Owen; Carson (Cynthia) Raker; Dariane (Brayden) Lee, Hannah and Sophia; Paul (Christie) Blackwell, Karah and Carly; Alex (Corin) Blackwell, Airianna; Mary Krupa, and Steven Krupa; several Heyler and Raker nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert in 2012, a son Jack in 2010; brothers, Romayne and Earl, and sister, Mary.
Friends will be received Tuesday, January 17th from 12 noon until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Lutheran Church. Those wishing may honor Margaret with a donation to the Liberty Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg.
