Mabelle (Mibbs) Nance, 80, of Blossburg, formerly of Bungy and of the Philadelphia area, passed away on May 4th. She was born on June 27, 1934 in Primos, just outside of Philadelphia, married Bruce (Nick) Nance at age seventeen and never looked back in a marriage that lasted 53 years.
Mibbs worked as a waitress, crossing guard, bank teller, drive-thru bank teller at First Citizens in Mansfield, and a daycare provider after her retirement from First Citizens.
Her husband was a lucky guy, as were her children whom she taught to be strong and independent in the face of any challenge they might encounter. She will be remembered for many things, but the most unwavering one was her desire to help anyone who needed or wanted help. She loved her family, horses, and visiting with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick, in 2005; a son, Vincent, in 1972; and a son, Steven, in 2007. Mibbs is survived by her children, George (Donna) Nance of Broomall, Pa; Bruce (Mary) Nance of Mansfield, Pa; Kenneth (Theresa) Nance of Harrisburg, Pa; and Patricia (Gerard) Oakes of West Chester, Pa; 24 grandchildren and 18 great grand children, and her dear friends John and Phyllis Estep, Sidney Gostigian and Betty Kuster.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 9th, from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at the Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home immediately following calling hours, with the Reverend Raymond Forsythe officiating.
