Kenneth Earl Simpson, 87, of Mansfield, PA, died August 13, 2025. Born in Williamsport, PA, on June 20, 1938, to Earl and Dorothy (Hare) Simpson, the family later moved to Wellsboro, PA, where Ken grew up, the oldest of four brothers.
After high school, Ken worked for the A&P grocery store in Mansfield and joined the Army National Guard. He married Victoria (Staron) Simpson of Blossburg, PA, on September 12, 1959. Their daughter, Suzanne, arrived in 1961 shortly before the couple moved to Fort Polk, LA, where Ken was deployed. The family moved back to Mansfield, PA, where son, David, joined the family.
Ken and Vicki built a home for their family along with a meat cutting business on Route 6. During this time, he also worked for Super Duper in Mansfield as a meat cutter and meat department manager.
In 1972, Ken assisted the National Guard with flood recovery from Hurricane Agnes. He received a commendation for his service. He served with the guards for 20 years 4 months before retiring in June of 1978. He continued working for Super Duper and later BiLo until retirement.
After retirement, Ken and Vicki continued to run their family meat business, Simpson’s Deer Cutting, until selling the business in the 90s to fully enjoy their retirement. After selling the business, Ken turned the empty building into a hobby wood working shop, making heirloom pieces for his grandchildren.
Ken enjoyed traveling, classic cars, model trains, spending time with family, cooking, and arguing with his wife, Vicki. They often joked that the secret to a long marriage was a fight a day.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Victoria in 2024. Left to cherish his memory are his 3 brothers Albert (Onalee) Simpson of Jersey Shore, PA, Delbert (Nika) Simpson of Nashville, TN, and Robert (Ann) Simpson of West Lawn, PA. His daughter Suzanne (Richard) Case of Mansfield, PA and son David (Anne Bacon) Simpson of Williamsport, PA. Grandchildren Ashley Case of Covington, PA, Erin (Casey) McKay of Mansfield, PA and Sean Simpson of Pittsburgh, PA. Great grandchildren Rachael and Kinley McKay, and Aurora Simpson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his treasured care aides Bronwen Vincent and Stacy White and her daughter, Harlee.
Services will take place at a later date, and burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Indiantown Gap, PA.
