Joyce Reed Obituary

Heaven got another angel when Joyce Arlene (Repard) Reed, 85 and formerly of Liberty, passed away on the morning of December 28th at the Green Home in Wellsboro, after a battle with heart disease.

Joyce was born on December 16, 1935 and was the eldest child of 4 children to Clinton and Gladys Repard from Liberty. She was pre-deceased in 2014 by her husband of 49 years, LeRoy Reed and her two younger brothers, Kenneth and Ralph Repard.  She is survived by her one younger sister, Diann (Repard) Schmoyer of PA.

Joyce is survived by her 4 daughters; Ruth Mase (Wellsboro), Vivian Burdern (Everett/Virginia), Debra Stubblefield (Ed/Texas) and Penny Dowen (Vermont) and a son Jack Reed (Liberty).  She has 9 grandchildren; April, Autumn and Donald live in/around Wellsboro, Heather and David live in Texas, Crystal lives in VA, Kendra is in CA, Allyson of MASS and Chelsey of South Carolina and Ryan of PA ;and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Joyce grew up in Liberty and lived there all her life until moving to Wellsboro 8 years ago.  She was involved with the Liberty Fire Department (her husband Roy was Fire Chief for many years) and attended the Liberty Lutheran Church.

Joyce had a big heart and loved helping people, if you needed anything, she was there to help. She worked many years as a waitress and then a cook at the old Steam Valley Inn restaurant, before it burned.  She loved to play piano, listen to her old classic country music, enjoyed watching her polka on TV, and she enjoyed riding her scooter over to McDonald's where she would meet up with a few friends and have her morning coffee.  She leaves behind many friends in her senior housing complex that would stop by to check in on her.

Due to Covid-19, there will be no calling hours or funeral service but we are hoping to lay her to rest in May, 2021 at the Freidens Lutheran Church Cemetery in Liberty, next to her husband and parents. .

In lieu of flowers and in Joyce's honor, please feel free to make a contribution to the American Heart Association or the Liberty Fire Department.
