Joseph L. Brion 95 of Blossburg PA formally of Liberty, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. Born October 14, 1930, in Liberty, PA he was the eldest son of the late Joseph and Grace (Drumater) Brion. He attended Liberty High School and graduated in 1948. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954.
Joe was a master mechanic at Lycoming Construction Company and Jones and Brague Mining Company. He also was a truck driver for B & D Transfer Company. Joe was a true jack of all trades and held many other jobs in his lifetime before his retirement.
Joe is survived by his wife Helen Brion of Wellsboro, PA., brother Lester Brion of Liberty, PA., sister Norma Stiner (Jerry Stout) of Columbia Crossroads, PA., and a sister-in-law Barbara Brion of Calvert, PA.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and special niece and nephew Steve and Sherry Stiner of Blossburg, PA.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Malvenia Kettler Brion, brothers and sisters-in-law Jim (Eleanor), Donnie (Jeanette), Larry Brion, and sister-in-law Rochelle (Judy) Brion.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman whether it was hunting, fishing, target shooting, or camping, and he also had a passion for woodworking. He made several trips out west to hunt and in later years loved to tell stories about his life adventures. Joe was affectionately known as “Joey” or “Uncle Joe” to many of his relatives and close acquaintances.
Joe’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Broad Acres Nursing Home and the residents of Riverside Park in Blossburg, PA. for all the care and support given to Joe.
On Saturday, Dec. 6th family and friends will be received from 10:30-11:30 at the Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg, PA. A luncheon will follow at Blossburg Methodist Church, 108 N. Williamson Rd. Blossburg, PA.
