Joan Marie Davison Obituary

Joan Marie Davison, 89, of Canton, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport hospital with family at her side. Born in Canton, PA on September 14, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Edoise (McCracken) Eyer and John McCracken Jr. She proudly graduated with the Williamsport High School Class of 1953. On August 14, 1955, she married her love, the late Thomas Paul Davison of Canton. Together they shared 57 years of marriage, raising five children. Joan and Tom lived in Honey Brook, PA and Burlington, WI before returning home to Canton in 1976. They ran Thomas P. Davison Accounting for 35 years, as well as, the family operated Davison’s Whitewash Service.

Joan’s greatest love was her family. She enjoyed hosting on holidays, especially Christmas and summer pool parties, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren delighted in their joyful time with Grammy Joan on Lake Hill. Her grandchildren say she was the epitome of love, joy, and faithfulness. Joan was there for all the births, graduations, weddings, and other life events.

In Honey Brook, Joan taught Sunday school and was a girl scout leader. While living in Burlington, Joan was the Activities Director at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home. Upon moving home to Canton, Joan was a member of the Canton Ecumenical Church, and she enjoyed outings with friends of the Ruby Rascals. Joan loved to travel. Tom and Joan also loved spending time with Tom’s sister Dorothy Hertel and her husband David. Many people recall the two couples and their Allis Chalmers tractors.

Joan is survived by her children: Walker Davison (Tami) Canton, PA, Amy Flick (Jeffrey) Cornwall, PA, Thomas E. Davison, Sierra Vista, AZ, Dreste Oeler (Robert), Loyalsock, PA, Mindy Davison (wife of the late Michael Davison), Troy, PA. Her grandchildren are Jenny Birrell, Ashley Shedden, Sara Mitchell, Abbey Short, Olivia Wyant, Meridith Fitzwater, Scott Flick, Sarah Flick, Robert Oeler, Max Oeler, Christopher Weaver, Cory Weaver, Aliah Davison, and Molly Davison. Her great grandchildren are Isabel, Elle, and Blair Shedden, Mackenzie and Emmitt Birrell, Dylan and Micah Mitchell, Connor, Cecilia and Thea Wyant, Donald and Dawson Flick, Moriah, Camon and Kezia Weaver, Brandon, Elijah, Isiah and Gianna Weaver.

Joan is survived by Marlene McCracken, wife of Joan’s late brother Thomas Roy McCracken, and her special companion of the last nine years, Bredt Wilhelmsen of Plymouth, WI. Bredt and Joan enjoyed travelling, dining with friends, and spending time with their families in both Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, infant sister Judith McCracken, and stepfather Marvin Eyer, mother-in-law, Hermina Davison, husband, Thomas Paul Davison, and son, Michael Paul Davison.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Windfall United Methodist Church (Windfall, PA). Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM. Funeral service will begin at 11 AM, followed by interment in the Windfall Cemetery. After the burial, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Windfall Church.
