Joan Elaine Hodder of Blossburg, PA passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Reston, VA after a seven month battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.

Joan was born on July 8, 1939 in Blossburg, PA to Alfred and Olga (Johnson) Haglund.  She graduated from Blossburg High School in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Cubby” Hodder on August 16, 1958.  They enjoyed 65 years of marriage.  Joan retired from Dalton Insurance in 2005 where she had been employed for over 40 years.  She was committed to her faith and served as the organist at Siloa Lutheran Church for over 50 years.  Joan loved spending time and traveling with her grandchildren, lunches with her Red Hat group, playing mahjong with the ladies at the Bloss Library, and bus trips with her friends to Tioga Downs.

Joan is preceded in death by her daughter Gail Elaine Hodder (1977); her father Alfred Haglund (1960), her mother Olga (Johnson) Haglund (1998), and a very special aunt, Velma Johnson (2000).

Joan is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Cubby” Hodder of Blossburg, PA; daughter and son-in law, Jill and Nixon Naidu of Reston, VA; 3 grandchildren, Chase, Ethan, and Maya Naidu all of Reston, VA; as well as many close friends.

Friends and family will be received at Siloa Lutheran Church in Morris Run, PA on Thursday, October 26th from 1:30pm-3pm.  Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Pastor Sandra Olson officiating.
