James Lyman McIntosh
Age 81 years old
James “Jim” McIntosh passed away while undergoing open-heart surgery in Pittsburgh on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
Jim was born in Blossburg, PA in 1942. He was a 1960 graduate of North Penn High School. Jim was well known in Blossburg, and the surrounding community, as the owner of Jim’s Service Station that he operated from 1970-2006. As a business owner, his customers knew Jim for his honest, friendly, and respectful service. He had a warm smile and a fondness for jokes and pranks. After his retirement, Jim enjoyed a variety of hobbies including building birdhouses that he sold and gave to friends and family. He was a farmer at heart and loved antique tractors. Jim enjoyed meeting new people and viewed strangers as friends he had yet to meet.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 54 years, Rose Patricia “Pat” (Palmer) McIntosh, who passed in 2017, his parents Randall T. McIntosh and wife Julia (Spencer) McIntosh, his brothers Thomas R. McIntosh and Richard “Dick” McIntosh.
Jim is survived by children, James Michael (Michelle) McIntosh, of Covington, John Patrick (Karen) McIntosh, of Mechanicsburg, Julia Rose (Todd Payne) McIntosh Nowak, of Blossburg; 5 grandchildren, Tyler McIntosh, Quinn McIntosh, Megan McIntosh, Julia McIntosh, Patelin Nowak; and his partner Phyllis Smethers with whom he enjoyed wintering with in Florida.
A private memorial service for family and close friends will be held August 18, 2023 and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Blossburg Fire Hall in Blossburg, PA on Saturday, September 23 from 1-5 PM. All family and friends of Jim and his family are invited to attend.
Those wishing to honor Jim may donate to the Blossburg Borough, 241 Main Street, Blossburg, PA 16912. Please make checks payable to “Blossburg Borough” and write “Jim McIntosh Memorial” in the memo line. Donations will be used to purchase a bench to be placed along the walking trail on Island Park in Blossburg. Some of Jim’s birdhouses will surround the bench to greet trail walkers.
