Gertrudes W. Gillmore

 Gertrudes W. Gillmore, 78, of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, formerly of Blossburg, passed away April 16, 2015 in St. Thomas.

 Born October 15, 1936 in St. Sao Paulo, Brazil, the daughter of Gotfried and Maria Simulac Waibel.

Gertrudes employment began in 1956 with Citibank, Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she was a bilingual secretary for the Vice President; she took dictation and typed documents in Portuguese and English. It was due to this employment she met   Edwin Gillmore, they were married on June 13, 1964; he survives and now resides in Blossburg.

Following working at Citibank her employment included; Montessori School St. Thomas, as a Spanish teacher, bilingual secretary for H. Stern Jewelers, St. Thomas, legal secretary in St. Thomas, and from 1973-1995 she along with her husband, Edwin, owned the Ben Franklin Store in Blossburg.

While living in Blossburg, her involvement with community service included North Penn Comprehensive Health Services Board and the Personnel Committee; member of the Blossburg Kiwanis Club where she was president and treasurer, also Chairwoman of Miracle Network Telethon for the Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis.

After closing the Ben Franklin Store, they returned to St. Thomas where she was employed by Ritz-Carlton. While employed by the Ritz-Carlton, she was honored by national publication, Gold Standard, for her outstanding attention to the guests.

Friends will be received at the First Baptist Church of Blossburg on Saturday,  September 26th from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m.  with Rev. John Shypulefski officiating.
