Elaine Lois Berguson

Elaine Lois Berguson, 82, of Covington went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2015, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. She was born March 9,  1933 in Philadelphia. She was the daughter of Rev. Maurice Reed Entwistle, who served more than two decades as the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Blossburg, and Elaine Champion Entwistle. Her grandfather Rev. John B. Champion was one of the founding professors of Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary which has grown into today's Eastern University.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded to heaven by her husband of 65 years John Robert Berguson, brothers Rev. Maurice S. Entwistle and Dr. Nelson L. Entwistle, and grandson Dan Reed Berguson. Surviving are her children John R. (Juanita) Berguson, Jr. of Blossburg; Diane E. (Ron) Purvis of Williamsport; Ron S. (Jo Ann) Berguson of Mount Jewett; Douglas A. (Mary) Berguson of New Cumberland; and Dan S. (Susan) Berguson of Blossburg. She is also survived by her brother Donald L. (Yoon) Entwistle of Mountain View, CA; two uncles Dr. Benjamin Champion of Berwyn and David Champion of The Villages, FL; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elaine's surviving grandchildren are: Rachael, Jonathan, Christina, Jason, Chad, Jon Erik, Emily, Bryan, Ryan, Holly (who resided with her), Raena, Kirsten, Britta, Jillian and Danil. Her surviving great-grandchildren are: Liberty, Dale, Isabella, Elaina, Haley, Kirra and Reagan.

Elaine was a devoted and loving wife and mother dedicated to raising and guiding her family in the service of God. While raising her five children, she worked as the bookkeeper for the family drift mining and trucking company – Rainbow Coal Company. Elaine lived her life placing devotion and honor to God as her life's priority while unselfishly providing loving care and meeting the needs of her family and friends without regard to her own needs. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she loved singing special arrangements in church with her mother Elaine and other family members. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
