Joyce M. Johnson

Joyce M. (Johnson) Johnson, age 84, of Blossburg, PA, died Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, after a brave fight with cancer. She was born January 28, 1934, in Blossburg, PA. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles. Joyce was a US Navy veteran who served during the Korean conflict. She was a homemaker and mother to many.

Joyce is survived by her children; Michele (Gary) Backus of Bedford, NH, Mark (Gloria) Johnson of Elmira, NY, Jim (Janet) Johnson of Yelm, WA, Judy Westerheide of Elmira, NY, Julia Fera of Elmira, NY, Sandy (Scott) Temple of Elmira, NY, Eric (Michelle) Johnson of Topeka, KS, Lisa (Marty) Leljedal of Elmira, NY, Charles (Dawn) Johnson of Elmira, NY; 18 grandchildren, Lana, Lauren, Aaron, Erica, Zack, Eric, Adam, Alan, Andrew, Jennifer, Maddison, Rebecca, Joyce, Caleb, Cameron, June, Avery, Aubree; 3 great-grandchildren, Mark, Lily and Charles Aiden.

Joyce is also survived by her slightly-less-Swedish brother Jim Johnson of Dothan, AL, Aunt Betty Johnson of Blossburg, PA, and brother-in-law Bob Johnson of Elmira, NY.

Family and friends will be received at the Freeberg Funeral home, 120 N. Williamson Rd., Blossburg, PA, on Thursday, January 24, 2019, from 10am-12pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home after the viewing with Pastor Elizabeth Jackson officiating.  Burial will be in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Arnot, PA.
