Edna Irene Matreski

Edna Irene Rennie Matreski, 86, of Blossburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2107 following an extended illness.

Born on February 9, 1931 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of William S. Rennie Sr. and Sadie E. Whiting Rennie.

Edna is survived by daughter Leah Wells of Bradenton, FL.; son and daughter-in-law Edward and Kathy Matreski of DuBois, PA; brother and sister-in-law Carlton “Pete” and Ann Rennie of Horseheads, NY; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Richard “Dick” Matreski; both parents; son John Richard Matreski; brothers; Thomas Rennie and William Rennie, sisters; Mary Rennie Brown, Agnes Rennie Stewart, and Leah Rennie; and son-in-law Philip Wells.

Edna had been an employee of Blossburg State Hospital prior to closing. She dedicated her life to actively volunteering in community as a longtime member of; St. Andrews Church and Altar Rosary Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Hillside Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary, Blossburg Memorial Library, and North Penn Alumni Association.

Friends will be received at Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg, Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 10-11 a.m.

Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bryan Wright officiating. Internment of cremains will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Morris Run, PA.
