George E. Manikowski, 84, of Blossburg, died Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was born May 9, 1939 in Blossburg, a son of the late John and Veronica “Jen” Manikowski.
George joined the workforce at a young age. He was first employed delivering coal with Ray Lindie and was the caretaker for the Arbon Cemetery for some years. He retired from the Maintenance department at Ward Manufacturing in 2002 with over 40 years of service.
He is survived by his son, Mark Manikowski (Lisa) of Greencastle, PA; a daughter, Greta Manikowski of Williamsport, PA; grandchildren David Manikowski (MaeKayla), of Saint Thomas, PA, Rachel Manikowski, Nathan Manikowski and Jason Manikowski of Greencastle, PA, and ZuZu Shanaway of Williamsport, PA. Also surviving is his brother, John Manikowski of Blossburg, PA, and nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Manikowski, son-in-law Daniel Shanaway and many aunts and uncles.
George was a man of many talents and was proud to pass along his vast knowledge and interests to the Manikowskis to follow. George will be remembered as a caring father and grandfather. His stories, wisdom, and the warmth of his company will be deeply missed by his family.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Saint Mary’s Church, Blossburg, PA, with celebrant Father Bryan Wright. Private interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.
