Keith Lindie

January 18, 1923 ~ March 12, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Keith was born in Blossburg January 18, 1923, the son of Raymond and Florence Besanceney Lindie.

.Keith graduated from high school in Blossburg in 1941.   He entered the U.S. Army attending infantry training and armor school, eventually becoming a tank commander.   He served with the Third Army under the legendary General George S. Patton from 1941-1945 participating at the Battle of the Bulge and being among the first units to enter Hitler's Eagle's Nest.

 

Upon returning to Blossburg, Keith joined his father’s coal company for 20 years. He then was employed by North Penn Gas Co. from which he retired.In retirement he helped long-time friend Bob Metarko, assemble Arctic Cat snowmobiles and of course rode them often.

 

Keith was known for chronicling the history of Blossburg and the surrounding area. He compiled video history of WWII veterans, coal miners, and members of the Civilian Conservation Corp.  He was a founding member of the Blossburg State Coal Festival Inc. and helped to make the Blossburg Coal Museum a reality,  now dedicated in his name.

 

Keith was also a member of the following; Bloss Masonic Lodge 350, where he was presented with a 60 year service pin, Veterans of Foreign Wars Supreme Sacrifice Post# 8739 Blossburg, where he worked with others to restore the the post’s World War I cannon; Theodore Roosevelt American Legion Post#167; William B. Wilson American Legion Post# 572; Wellsboro Historical Society; Hillside Rod and Gun Club.

 

Surviving Keith are his sister, Jean Lindie Johnson of Camp Hill, his niece Dusty  Johnson McMillen and her husband J. Paul McMillen of Camp Hill, great-nephews; Michael  McMillen of Camp Hill and Daniel McMillen, his  wife Christine and children Madigan and Liam of Camp Hill.

Family and friends will be received Sunday March 19, 2017 at the Blossburg School Auditorium from 11 a.m. until 1p.m Masonic services will begin at 1 p.m. followed by funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Blossburg Memorial Library, notation Keith Lindie Fund.This fund will go to preserve his video legacy.
